Scheduling Process

Have your physician's office contact our office at 415-393-9600. We will need a copy of your insurance card and photo ID

What to Expect

Evening Before Surgery
Please follow these instructions very carefully as they are important to your health and safety. It may also cause delay or rescheduling of your surgery.

Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the before your scheduled procedure. (This includes water, gum, candy, etc.) If you are taking any medications for any reason, please disclose to your doctor so that special instructions may be given if necessary.

Morning of Surgery
Please arrive one hour prior to your scheduled surgery time. Upon arrival, you will be asked to complete admission and consent forms. Prior to your surgery, you will meet with your anesthesiologist and preoperative nurse and will have the opportunity to ask any last minute questions you may have.

We ask that you please leave all valuables at home or with your guest as you will be asked to remove all jewelry, contact lenses, etc. prior to surgery. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easily removed and put back on for your convenience.

It is important that you plan ahead for transportation to and from your procedure. You will want to have someone available to drive you home and stay with you during the night should you need anything. Please note that our waiting room is relatively small and does not accommodate large groups of people.

You will receive a phone call the day before your scheduled surgery from the SFSC Preoperative Nurse. If you do not receive a phone call by 3 pm, please give us a call at 415-393-9600.

Things to Remember

By now, you have likely discussed your procedure with your doctor, however we encourage you to continue to communicate your questions and concerns with your doctor in order to assure your complete safety and satisfaction with your experience.

A San Francisco Surgery Center Pre Operative Nurse will call you the day before your surgery. If you have not received a call by 3:00pm, please call us at 415-393-9600 to ensure that schedules are aligned and nothing has changed.

Please arrive at the San Francisco Surgery Center one hour prior to your scheduled surgery time to allow for plenty of time for you to fill out paperwork and prepare for surgery. This will also allow for our staff to keep you on schedule with your surgery.

Remember to have someone drive you home after surgery and stay with you through the night. If you have questions about this or need assistance with arranging transportation, please let us know and we will do what we can to help. Please provide us with the name and phone number of the person giving you a ride and/or staying with you so that we can let them know when you are out of surgery. We can also provide you and your guests with a list of nearby hotels.

Please bring your photo ID and insurance card with you on the day of your surgery as well as your preferred pharmacy information, should we need to call in a prescription for you.Our lobby is equipped with WiFi should your guests need it while they are waiting. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Cashiers Check, Money Orders and Cash. Sorry, no personal checks accepted.

One more thing, please remember not to drink or eat anything after midnight the day before your surgery!
